Veteran rap-rockers 311 have joined up with veteran Peruvian cumbia ensemble Los Mirlos (Spanish for "the Blackbirds") for a reimagining of their 2002 hit "Amber." Produced by two-time Latin Grammy-nominee El Dusty, this new version comes from Los Mirlos' upcoming album The World Meets Los Mirlos. Injected with Amazonian psychedelia and featuring a new Spanish verse from Doug "SA" Martinez, this ode to singer Nick Hexum's former fiancé Nicole Scherzinger (The Pussycat Dolls) takes on a fresh new energy.
Fitting, that a song about ineffable energy can take on new life while retaining its spirit after a quarter of a century.
Starting in July, 311 will hit the road with Dirty Heads for their co-headlining So Glad You Could Make It Tour with special guests Ocean Valley and Atmosphere. The tour runs through August and will include several festival stops along the way. In September, the band will appear at Oceans Calling in Maryland. And next year, in March, the band will once again embark on the 311 Caribbean Cruise.
