BABYMETAL Collaborate With Vans On New Collection

This collaboration is to commemorate 15 years since the formation of the band.

Japanese kawaii metal band BABYMETAL was born in 2010 in Tokyo, consisting of lead singer and dancer Su-Metal, along with backup vocalists and dancers Yuimetal and Moametal. Yuimetal has since left the band, and Momometal has taken her place. They fuse heavy metal with the Japanese idol culture, earning them a lot of criticism from metal purists who didn't think what these women were doing could be considered real metal. They unleashed their first album Babymetal in 2014, with their most recent release coming earlier this year in the form of Metal Forth.

Over the years, BABYMETAL has joined forces with various artists to create fun and unique tracks, including Electric Callboy, Poppy, Spiritbox, Tom Morello, and Bloodywood. They have also been featured in WWE video game soundtracks, video packages, and as the official theme song for many PPV/PLE's. They have had no shortage of success in their 15 year career, so there is much reason to celebrate.

Vans is one of the most popular shoe brands around, so teaming up with them to create their own BABYMETAL branded shoes is an impressive and distinct way of commemorating the band's history. The collaboration includes three shoe designs (Slip-On, Old Kkool, and Sk8-Hi), a mini Slip-On style keychain, a reversible vest, one short sleeve T-shirt, and one long sleeve T-shirt, all with the BABYMETAL logo branded on them.

This collection will be available on Thursday, December 11th through Japanese footwear company ABC-Mart.
