Daron Malakian and Scars on Broadway Release Chaotic Video For "Destroy The Power"

'Addicted to the Violence' is out now.

Daron Malakian and Scars on Broadway have unleashed their latest LP Addicted to the Violence, a scathing slab of songs against the senseless violence and chaos in the world. The news of the record broke last month, as did the first single "Killing Spree," and with the release of the band's newest album comes a music video for "Destroy the Power."

The song is a straightforward riff with all of the drop-tuned deftness than put Malakian on the map with System of a Down, while he sings about atrocities committed by those in power and how the people can reclaim said power. It is a warning to those who govern that the people can and will take back the night at will. Granted, the music video, which features a gyrating dancer and a strung-out onlooker in a hotel room, might muddy the waters in deciphering the song's meaning, but the delightful dissonance is something that Malakian has always brought to his music, regardless of which project said music is for.
