Grammy-winning, Platinum-selling nu metal legends Evanescence are back with the new single, "Who Will You Follow," coinciding with the announcement of their sixth studio album, Sanctuary. After months of rumors and teases from the band, the album is set to release June 5th through BMG. The band put out the following statement on social media:
“This album is over three years in the making and we are so damn proud of every second of it. Hope you love it and can’t wait for you to hear it! HERE WE GO!!!”
The band has once again enlisted the services of co-producers Zakk Cervini (Architects, Machine Gun Kelly, Poppy), and Jordan Fish (Architects, Bring Me the Horizon, Poppy), to lend a cutting-edge sheen to the proceedings. The guitars sound huge but the never overwhelm the delicate piano that underpins the entire track. Similarly, Cervini and Fish bring a clarity and separation to Lee's layered vocals that ensure signature harmonies shine amidst even the most punishing detuned riffs. Given Evanescence's influence on modern metal, it's only right that key architects like Cervini and Fish return the favor behind the mixing board.
What have you done to me? / You drain thе life out of me 'til I don't know myself / When all your faith in reality fades away / Who will you follow then?
"Who Will You Follow," joins "Afterlife" (also co-produced by Cervini and Fish) as the first new music from the band since their 2021 album The Bitter Truth. The latter track, featured on the Devil May Cry soundtrack, will also appear on Sanctuary as confirmed by the official tracklist. Sadly, the same cannot be said for "Hand That Feeds" and "Fight Like a Girl," Amy Lee's collaborations will Halsey and K.Flay from the Ballerina soundtrack, nor "End of You," Lee's smash hit with Courtney LaPlante and Poppy.
In the coming weeks Evanescence will hit up Sick New World in Las Vegas before embarking on a massive world tour with supporting acts Spiritbox, Nova Twins, Poppy, and K.Flay. The band will make their way back to the States to perform at the Texas iteration of Sick New World before finishing out their world tour at Red Rocks in Colorado.
