Glasswaves Announce Debut Album, Premiere "Swarm.ING_"

Their first LP 'while(True)' drops on October 23rd via SharpTone Records.

After signing with SharpTone Records earlier this year, Rochester alt-rock outfit Glasswaves have announced their debut studio album, entitled while(True). To mark the occasion, they have released the third single from said LP in "Swarm.ING_." Blending hard rock, electronic, and alternative elements, this song is a straightforward affair, accompanied by a music video that is part Blair Witch, part Bugonia, and all surreal.

In describing the creative process behind the new track, vocalist Noah Rich offers:

"This song is about the feeling of something taking over your mind and feeding off of you, only to realize you are the thing that's been consuming you. When this one started it felt like we tapped into a new, almost nu-metal direction for us, while still keeping that core Glasswaves sound."

As for the album itself, Rich talks about the development and the relatively short history of the band, recounting:

"while(True) is our most ambitious and personal release yet. Through the story of a failing medical technology company experimenting with dream manipulation, we explore themes of trauma, addiction, perception, and the unseen forces that shape the way we think. More than anything, this album represents our growth as writers. We challenged ourselves creatively, stopped following expectations, and made the record we truly wanted to make. We can't wait for people to experience the world of while(True) and find their own meaning within it."

Guitarist Owen Miller draws comparisons between the dystopian concept of the album and modern problems, stating:

"People will see things happening and choose not to do anything, because it’s easier than taking action. Developments like A.I. data centers deplete natural resources, but nobody seems to care. 'The Veil' represents this sort of selfishness. Even though the company Liminal Neuro promises to get rid of your fears and worries and empower you to become the person you want to be, the doctors are merely using everyone just to find 'The Veil.'"

The Veil is an entity meant to embody one's spiritual desires, in something of a nod to Silent Hill if ever there were. With the in-universe drug known as the "Neuro Veil," this could also be an analog for so-called "AI psychosis," or a commentary on Big Pharma. In any case, Glasswaves have a clear throughline for this first outing, and they're crafting a compelling sound to back this story.

The tracklist for while(True) is as follows:

"FALSE_glow:"

  1. "Saving[face]"
  2. "fvck.me.up"
  3. "Swarm.ING_"
  4. "(D:)rive"

  6. "<<bye>>"
  7. "SCARed"
  8. "hi xoxo"
  9. "PR3SSURE"
