It appears as though the early mornin’ stoned pimp known as Kid Rock is having a hell of a time, but given his recent social media rants, you wouldn’t know it. It is well-documented how much of a Trump supporter he is, and when Bruce Springsteen sounded off on Trump during his concert in Manchester, England this past Wednesday, the Detroit native had some thoughts about The Boss.
Appearing on The Jesse Watters Show on Fox News (barf), Rock threw around several conservative buzzwords before suggesting that Springsteen should “stay in Europe.” While it upsets me to include a link to anything from Fox “News” on this site, so goes journalism, so proceed with caution:
There’s something to be said about picking one’s battles, as thanks to many of Trump’s policies and his administration, the workers at Kid Rock’s Big Ass Honky Tonk Rock n Roll Steakhouse (woof) were instructed to leave if they did not have legal immigration status in the US.
As the Nashville Scene has reported, raids by ICE hit the city, leaving management no choice but to send workers home so they wouldn’t be deported. Steve Smith, owner of the steakhouse and other Nashville restaurants, could not be reached for comment, and the front-facing socials of the business have not made a statement at this time.
It’s also worth mentioning that the Scene has since reported that very few of the 196 alleged illegal immigrants picked up by ICE have had no criminal activity, but I digress.
Aside from the obvious human rights violations being committed by ICE agents who have been empowered by hateful rhetoric, read the fucking room, Bob. Granted, resorting to talking points about “don’t go after the people who make your food” or reducing folks to what labor they can or cannot perform, but there’s more than a grain of truth to that idea. This is far from Kid Rock’s first PR shitshow this year, but this absolute dissonance only serves to further taint his legacy.
Not that there was much to begin with…
