Breaking Benjamin are one of the best-selling alternative bands of the 21st century, and earlier this month, the Wilkes-Barre natives added another accolade to their already-extensive resume. Their 2024 single "Awaken" has been certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), having crossed the threshold of 500,000 equivalent units sold domestic.
In this streaming age we're in, an equivalent unit can also mean 1,500 streams of a song, in addition to one purchase of a digital single. At time of publication, the song is at 50.7 million streams on Spotify, with the music video having crossed 20 million views on YouTube.

"Awaken," as well as "Something Wicked," will likely appear on the band's yet-to-be-announced seventh studio album. Their last LP was 2018's Ember, though their last compilation was 2020's Aurora.
