Five-time Grammy-winning producer and engineer Chris Lord-Alge confirmed he is working on new material with nu metal pioneers Korn.
The update follows several weeks of movement surrounding the band. Recently, bassist Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu was seen spending time with drummer Ray Luzier after years of public distance from the rest of the group. In December 2024, guitarist Brian “Head” Welch stated that beginning work on the band’s 15th studio album was not necessarily an immediate priority.
In an Instagram post shared on Saturday, February 14, Lord-Alge posted a studio photo alongside producer Nick Raskulinecz and guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer. In the caption, the Grammy winner described the material as “Heavy badass rock.”
Lord-Alge previously worked with Korn on the mix for Untouchables (2002). He also mixed material associated with the All Hope Is Gone (2008) cycle from Slipknot, contributed additional mixes during the Hybrid Theory and Meteora era of Linkin Park, and worked with Sevendust.
Raskulinecz produced See You on the Other Side (2005) and Untitled (2007) for Korn, playing a key role in the band’s sonic transition following Welch’s departure. He also produced Diamond Eyes (2010) and Koi No Yokan (2012) for Deftones, Come What(ever) May (2006) for Stone Sour, and the self-titled Evanescence (2011).
The presence of both Lord-Alge and Raskulinecz suggests Korn’s next studio effort may draw from the experience that shaped pivotal moments in the band’s 2000s catalog. However, no production timeline or release window has been announced for what would become the band’s 15th studio album.
