Suddenly, and without warning, a new Sleep Theory record has appeared! Depending on how you define "new." The Memphis alt-metal sensation continue to keep fans guessing with Paper Hearts (Reimagined), a digital-only complete reworking of their 2023 EP Paper Hearts. This acoustic and piano-driven reworking of the band's debut EP follows the surprise release of July's (E)motional (S)upport (C)are (P)ackage. The band put out an official statement about the new EP:
Sleep Theory share Paper Hearts – Reimagined, a new digital companion to their 2023 EP today, featuring lo-fi and stripped-back versions of each track. The release is accompanied by a series of dreamscape visualizers, each layered with easter eggs for eager fans to discover.
Stripping away their hard-rock intensity, Paper Hearts – Reimagined takes on a renewed depth and vulnerability, highlighting Cullen Moore’s dynamic range and effortless croon. "Gone or Staying – Reimagined" and "Numb – Reimagined" shine through acoustic textures, while "Another Way – Reimagined" and "Fallout – Reimagined" offer piano-led cinematic and contemplative interpretations of the originals.
Sleep Theory is just one of several bands to offer fans a new spin on old favorites. The last fiscal year has seen reworked albums from Bring Me The Horizon, Kittie, The Browning, Split Chain, Cro-Mags, Rotting Christ, and Stabbing Westward.
Fans can see Sleep Theory live in the coming days at weeks at several festivals, including Louder Than Life, Aftershock, and Sick New World. Starting in November, the band will be supporting Papa Roach with fellow special guests LANDMVRKS on the Rise Of The Roach Tour. And next February, the band will headline their very first Australian tour. The Sydney and Brisbane shows are already sold out.
