British masked metal titans Sleep Token have achieved their first Platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Their single "The Summoning," the breakout track from their third studio LP Take Me Back To Eden, has cracked one million units sold as of Friday, April 10th.
The song garnered a great deal of social media buzz, particularly from content creators using the final section of the song, a more R&B-themed slow jam, as a sound for various videos. As much of a headrush as the song is as a whole, the final minute or so is the bane of Booktok girlies the world over, and if it doesn't make one want to get down and make love like Queen, I dunno what will.
This achievement follows their fourth studio album Even in Arcadia earning Vessel and his numbered cohorts a Gold record for 500,000 units sold earlier this year.
For those unaware, the qualifications for a unit sale or equivalent are as follows (taken from the RIAA official website):
Each permanent digital album or physical album sale count as 1 Unit for certification purposes.
10 permanent track downloads from the album count as 1 Unit for certification purposes.
1,500 on-demand audio and/or video streams from the album count as 1 Unit for certification purposes.
