Metallica is, by any measure, the biggest metal band in the world. As such, supporting them live is a launching pad for newer acts, as has been the case with bands like Ghost, Lamb of God, and Ice Nine Kills. With the metal titans playing a residency at The Sphere in Las Vegas this year, they will only have two dates not contained within the buzzworthy venue, and the openers for said dates have been announced.
On November 19th and 21st, in conjunction with the venue's 25th anniversary, Metallica will be playing the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT, with Suicidal Tendencies and Spiritbox opening on those respective dates. The former will, of course, be a homecoming for Metallica's Robert Trujillo, as he has played bass for the crossover thrash legends off and on throughout the years, with his son Tye Trujillo succeeding him beginning in 2021.
Suicidal Tendencies are playing a host of festivals in the near future, including Coachella, Welcome to Rockville, and Sonic Temple.
Spiritbox's date with metal destiny follows their as-yet-upcoming support of Evanescence on their upcoming World Tour, with Spiritbox playing the following dates (see our previous coverage for the full slate of dates with varying supporting acts):
