Last Saturday, October 24, at The Music Factor in Battle Creek, Michigan, rising alt-metal band Nail Bite unleashed an absolutely ferocious cover of Korn's classic track "Twist" off their double-Platinum sophomore album Life Is Peachy. Without warning, Nail Bite, which on first appearance looks more suited to covering Evanescence, tear through "Twist" like it's second nature.
Switching out Korn's patented double seven-string attack for a keyboard and eight-string combo, the band easily conjure the dark, dissonant menace of the Korn staple. Of particular note is lead singer Lonna Nelson, who has no trouble inhabiting the same vocal register as Jonathan Davis for the duration of the track. The band pride themselves on their genre-spanning sound, and this live take on "Twist" shows they mean what they say.
Yeah. You could say Nail Bite pretty much... killed it.
While this is not the first time the band has performed "Twist" live, the band has only grown more comfortable and confident on stage. This latest rendition shows the band fully owning the song and frontwoman Nelson really commanding the stage. Despite being unsigned, the band currently nets over 280k monthly listens on Spotify and has shared the stage with bands such as Bring Me The Horizon, Slipknot, Falling In Reverse, Evanescence, and even, yes, Korn.
Formed in 2021 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the self-described "family band" consists of vocalist/guitarist Johnnie Bitting, vocalist Lonna Nelson, keyboardist Caiden Nelson, and bassist John Bitting. Their next, and so far only, upcoming show is November 6th at Phantom Power in Millersville, Pennsylvania. Joining them will be special guests Strange Culture, Traverse The Abyss, and Desolation.
