Otep Returns To Music With Feature On Whitney Peyton's "Yes Men"

The "T.R.I.C." singer has resurfaced nearly two years after announcing her retirement from music.

At the end of 2024, Otep Shamaya, namesake of the firebrands Otep, left the music world behind her, following her final album The God Slayer, mostly a covers record. She's spent much of the last year and change insisting that her political beliefs, namely her vicious anti-Trump record KULT 45, got her blackballed from the industry. Now, though, some nineteen months since her last LP, she has returned as a featured artist on a new song.

Whitney Peyton, a hip-hop artist and podcast host, released "Yes Men," featuring Otep and Kung Fu Vampire. The latter was in mind by Peyton for the song, but Peyton managed to talk Otep into said feature with the promise of letting Otep rap, as opposed to screaming as she is wont to do.
