Boy Hits Car may best be known to alt-rock fans as the band behind “Lovefurypassionenergy,” the entrance theme for WWE Hall of Famer Lita, but they are still actively making music and touring nearly a quarter of a century later. While nothing can stop them, it would seem that a car, or rather a more industrial-type vehicle, would put a stop to their show.
Hours before their show on Friday, May 9th, a dump truck crashed into the side of the Whisky-A-Go-Go in Los Angeles, and while (thankfully) no one was hurt, the show planned for that evening did have to be postponed. As local news station ABC7 reported, the brakes on the truck seem to have failed, sending the vehicle plowing down Sunset Boulevard, into several parked cars and, finally, the iconic Whisky.
The band did take the opportunity to promote their new single “Mind Elevation,” which sounds like classic Boy Hits Car with plenty of 12-string guitars and prominent basslines. Vocalist/guitarist Cregg Rondell uses the full breadth of his range, even pseudo-rapping through the verses.
