Rob Zombie has been making films for over two decades, but the Phantom Stranger had to start somewhere. The 2003 film House of 1000 Corpses was the first of his Firefly trilogy, and his first feature after producing several music videos for both White Zombie and his work as a solo artist. Now, after over two decades of horror infamy, Zombie will be pulling back the curtain on the development of the cult classic with the help of Insight Editions.
The book, entitled House of 1000 Corpses: The Making of a Cult Classic, clocks in at 304 pages, including the full script with Zombie’s own annotations, rare and never-before-seen artwork and concept art, and behind-the-scenes photos from the film’s production. It releases on September 16, 2025.
People revealed some exclusive spreads from the book, which you can see below:

For the uninitiated, House of 1000 Corpses tells the story of a cannibalistic family that takes advantage of a group of stranded travelers on a rainy night. Among the film’s infamous features are the menus from the film’s DVD release, which were interactive and full-motion, featuring hilarious dialogue from the film’s cast, particularly by the late Sid Haig as Captain Spaulding.
House of 1000 Corpses: The Making of a Cult Classic can be pre-ordered wherever books are sold.
