It's beginning to look like Slipknot may be down a comms director as well as a DJ. The band cannot seem to get on the same page regarding Sid Wilson's departure, and a recent comment by guitarist Jim Root reveals he's been kept out of the loop as well.
When TMZ first broke the story of Wilson's exit from the band, details were scant and rumors started flying. Their July 31 report claimed that Wilson had been "permanently removed" from the band after 28 years as #0. However with no official statement from the band themselves, it was unclear if this claim was true.
Jim Root responded to the news by posting an Instagram story that read "Don't believe everything you read. Stop. Think. Take a breath. Sit with it for awhile. Maybe. Just maybe even wait until there's more information." seeming to indicate that TMZ had misreported the story. For his part, Wilson himself carried on as though nothing had happened, even introducing himself as a member of Slipknot at the World Scratch Invitational Regional Championship on August 11.
Finally, the band issued an official statement yesterday that they had parted ways with Sid, although it was deleted from all platforms shortly after. Fans on Reddit have unearthed a comment made from Jim Root's official Instagram account regarding his call for skepticism. In it he says that at the time of posting his story, he didn't know what to believe. It sounds like he found out about the lineup change at the same time as everyone else, despite nearly 30 years as bandmates.

This is a developing story, updates will be made as they occur.
