Over the weekend, it was announced that Greyson Nekrutman, who currently helms the kit for the soon-to-be-retiring Sepultura, would be taking over for Alex Bent in Trivium. Nekrutman made his debut with Trivium this weekend at Aftershock Festival, with the band playing Sepultura's "Slave New World" as a nod to Nekrutman's other band.
As to assuage fears that Nekrutman would be leaving Sepultura entirely, especially given some of the controversy Trivium experienced with their ill-fated "Poisoned Ascendancy" tour earlier this year, the Brazilian legends confirmed that Nekrutman is still with the band, and will return in 2026 to pick up where he left off with their farewell tour.
In a statement posted to Sepultura's Instagram story (transcribed by Metal Injection):
"As many of you may already know, our drummer Greyson Nekrutman has temporarily joined our friends from Trivium as their drummer. In 2026, he'll be back with Sepultura, resuming his place in the band as we continue our farewell tour. Stay tuned for new tour dates coming soon!"
