Slipknot's guitarist Jim Root has clarified that the band's surprise release "Arsenal" will not be featured on their new album and stay a single.
In a comment section on Instagram, a fan acknowledged the lukewarm reception to the single, and asked if Root if he thought Arsenal could've been better. Root then clarified the intention behind the release.
"Arsenal was a tune we could quickly get out there while we work on the record," Root said. "It's not really representative of the other tunes."

On Wednesday, Slipknot dropped "Arsenal" out of nowhere, and despite Corey Taylor saying it was a "pummeling experience," fans are currently insisting that it doesn't do much beyond light smacks to the face.
Root's Instagram account has since been completely nuked, with only one post remaining with the caption edited to show the lyrics for "Arsenal."
