Sully Erna of modern rock monolith Godsmack recently featured on Kylie Olsson’s Life in Six Strings video interview series and discussed life, death, fame, the power of music and more.

In speaking with Olsson, Erna revealed he expects Godsmack to release new music in the future, despite losing two longtime members, drummer Shannon Larkin and guitarist Tony Rombola, to retirement.

Erna clarified that he still considers Larkin and Rombola good friends and that there is “no drama there,” adding that they both retired “honorably.”

If new Godsmack is on the horizon, we are likely to see some new faces in the lineup.

“I'm putting some new people in place,” Erna said. “I'm still in some trial periods, but we have some plans coming in 2026 that we're excited about.”

He said he feels Godsmack is at a new high point of their career.

“All these years later, we're hitting another moment where we're doing our best attendance and … it's kind of come full circle,” Erna said.

Godsmack’s most recent album, which Erna had previously said would be their last, was 2023’s Lighting Up the Sky. The album was also the last to feature Larkin and Rombola.
