Novelists Drop "I Have Nothing" Cover From Backstage Jam Session With Gabi Rose

The jam session turned into a tribute to "The Voice" herself.

Novelists are fresh off their supporting run alongside Bilmuri, and as part of the backstage rehearsals and shenanigans, the band filmed a jam session cover of Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing" with Bilmuri's Gabi Rose on backing vocals and saxophone. The clip was filmed in Phoenix, AZ, in the midst of their ongoing tour (more on that later).

The guitar duo of Florestan Durand and Pierre Danel keep the distortion away from the song, but are no less shreddy or bluesy than their usual fare, as Camille Contreras performs a more subdued vocal. She's not trying to be Whitney, and that's honestly for the better. She gives it her all, but doesn't overdo it or try to sound like an imitation. Her voice more than holds the cover up, sounding like a composed take rather than karaoke night.

Novelists' newest single "Ravage" is out now on their proprietary label ANKOR Music.
