Before there was BTS, before there was Bigbang, there was Seotaiji, once the most prominent Korean musician in the world. The man born Jeong Hyong-cheol bears the nickname of "The President of Culture," and one listen to his music will let you know exactly what culture he represents. While nu metal was undergoing serious changes in the West, Seotaiji was carrying on as if nothing had changed.
On his official YouTube channel, a clip from his performance at the 2002 Eerie Taiji People Fest (ETPFest) has just been uploaded, this of his song "Regret of the Times." Coming from his fourth solo album, which remains one of the biggest-selling records in South Korean history, the track is an energetic look at the changing times in the life and times of one of the nation's biggest figures.

Seotaiji is a unifying figure in music, and deserves checking out if one is not hip to his music. We spoke about him briefly in our Nu Metal Moments In K-Pop History Starter Pack, if you need a starting point.
