We Got Another One: Yeonjun Went Nu Metal (Sort Of?)

Another 4th gen idol has struck The Nu Metal Agenda.

Here at our humble Agenda, we've extolled the virtues of K-pop pushing a nu metal agenda, and the latest idol to do so is Yeonjun, the "it boy" of the fourth generation and member of TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT). The singer, who recently released the second of his solo NO LABELS EPs, is clearly a believer in just that, as both feature a wide range of styles.

His dalliance with nu metal, however, is with the Street Woman Fighter: Directors' War soundtrack, namely the male version of the song "Rockstarr." This song, produced by THE HUB, sounds like it could have afforded Yeonjun an opening spot for any number of early Aughts bands. There's enough swagger and braggadocio to carry the track, and YJ's vocals command the mix.

Listen for yourself below:

As for his solo work, NO LABELS will be released on August 28th via BIGHIT Entertainment, and will encompass both last year's PART 01 and this year's PART 02. There are more nu metal moments on those than one might care to admit, but that's for another conversation entirely.
