Hardcore DJ Lil Texas aka Diamond Dallas Tex, known for his numerous remixes of pop artists, has teamed up with HEALTH, this time has produced a jungle and hardstyle remix of "VIBE COP". Some of Texas' previous credits include remixes of Dorian Electra, Kesha, Korn, Nicki Minaj, to name but a few. His original tracks include "Sucker Punch", "We Need a Doctor," and "Rip City". Texas.
This version doesn't take the seriousness of the original track to heart. That is in fact a good thing, That said, this remix could be an introduction to more extreme and experimental genres of EDM. In this case, fans of Lil Texas might be disappointed that this track isn't as unhinged as most of his other tracks. However, if the man can make a weird noise up-tempo hardcore remix of the Chicken Dance and have it sound good, he can make about anything not only palatable, but fully listenable.
HEALTH fans who aren't open to this type of EDM might be annoyed. As for the lack of lyrics or vocals, some might find it strange, but the hard-style, hardcore and industrial that the band has grown up with really fulfills the quotas for the all of the R-TYPE "Jueves" remixes we've had so far. As for the remix itself, this "VIBE COP" remix really reminds me of the PlayStation 1 game such as Wipe-out 2097 or something with I could only describe that goes with something with nu metal, low poly or metallic visuals. Not necessarily a "Twisted Metal" but something in that ballpark. Also, the Johnny Health "INTERESANTE!" ad-lib was a nice touch.
All told, I've been really impressed by the R-TYPE remixes so far. There hasn't been one that I've skipped so far.
