Ladies, gentlemen, and everyone in between, Feliz Jueves once again. This means new HEALTH, who have teamed up with French DJ/producer BRVMES for a remix of the band's newest single "Thought Leader". As with many of the R-Type Remixes thus far, I hadn't heard of BRVMES previously, but his credits intrigued me, with Rezz and Dillon Francis as past collaborators.
Inspired by the darker French electro scene, BRVMES has emerged from the shadows to bring back a truly brooding sound. Each track of his reaches back in time to bring forth an air of style and reservation that is reminiscent of those old French classic’s we have all grown to love. Driven by the underground scene in Chicago and LA, BRVMES is ready to revive the rave culture that he stumbled upon early on and is determined to deliver a new wave of blood-boiling records.
This remix reminds me of all those popular remixes I found growing up on soundcloud, especially remixes of Slipknot, Bring Me the Horizon, and CKY. Like several of the R-Type remixes so far, this one isn't lyrically dense, but has enough great instrumentally to keep the listener's attention. It's the best type of tension and release you can get from EDM.
I'm picky when it comes to bass music and (insert)step music, so saying that this is my favorite of all the remixes says a lot.
