For those keeping score at home, per the RIAA's regulations, 1,500 streams equals one unit, in addition to traditional digital sales. At time of publication, the song has over 581 million streams on Spotify, with the music video boasting 63 million views on YouTube.
Released on March 1st, 2007, the song was a breakout moment for the band, though it was reportedly a challenge for vocalist Scott Anderson, who describes the song as a more funk rock number than the band's usual post-grunge output. It drew comparisons to Franz Ferdinand's megahit "Take Me Out," which Finger Eleven would occasionally interweave into "Paralyzer" when played live, leaning into the bit.
