The new era of Sleep Theory is on the horizon, and dedicated fans are already getting a sneak peek. On Friday, October 23rd, the Memphis alt-metal band began uploading a series of cryptic videos to their social media: grainy security cam footage of lead singer Cullen Moore in a house besieged by dark, ominous, gangly creatures (possibly aliens). Strangely, Moore is unfazed by the tall, faceless forms approaching. Throughout the short looping clip, he anxiously paces about, hands on his head, as if something else—something worse—is already on his mind. Understandable, given the state of the world.
Along with each video is a snippet, presumably of song lyrics, and instructions to text hashtagged words and phrases to an 800 number. Each prompts a message with a link to a page accessible only to fans signed up to the band's email list. Once signed up, fans will automatically receive text messages when new snippets are uploaded.
can't embrace it....can't escape it....
face down with my nails in the dirt,,, it's how it always begins...
giving in out oct 29
With this most recent upload, released at 12:30PM EST, the band has finally unveiled the reason behind these cryptic snippets and hints: the music video for their new single "Giving In" drops tomorrow, October 29th. This new track—no relation to the Adema's 2001 hit of the same nama—is the first single from the follow-up to July's (E)motional (S)upport (C)are (P)ackage and September's Paper Hearts (Reimagined). Unlike those surprise EP releases, this longer, more involved lead-up suggests the band may be readying their next full-length album.
