Static Dress Begin Posting Series Of Cryptic Instagram Stories, YouTube Videos

Is Static Dress readying us for a new single? Or something bigger?

It seems English post-hardcore outfit Static Dress have been hard at work since the release of their latest single "face." earlier this year. What exactly they've been working on, we don't know yet. But they've been sure to let their fans know they're planning something.

On July 31st, Static Dress made a post on all their socials, with just two words: "Announcement soon...". Linked under it was an invite to sign up for their mailing list. Upon doing so, subscribers would receive an email the very next day titled "they remember her for what she was...", containing a button labelled "DO NOT PRESS."

A screenshot of the mailing list email, featuring an embed video and a button, both labeled "DO NOT PRESS". The email reads as follows: "hello... a product of true rebirth".

Upon pressing (sorry, I had to), it leads to a youtube video from a second, secret channel with the handle "bLackOrchid368". The video itself is called "_ _ _ _ _ _/_ _ _ _ _/_ _ _ _", and contains various looping clips, distorted audio, text flashes, and an ominous reference to August 29th, 2025. On the surface, the text flashes appear to be flavor text, but for hardcore fans of Static Dress, that couldn't be farther from the truth.

For those unaware, Static Dress is a band with deep interconnected lore spanning music, videos, a comic book, and even a video game for the Game Boy Color. Their two albums, Prologue... and Rouge Carpet Disaster, as well as the aforementioned book and game tell the story of Emile (played by frontman Olli Appleyard in the music videos) and Nancy, a couple whose toxic relationship spells disaster for themselves and the world around them.

This new video, as well as it's August 9th follow-up, entry 302, seem to have further lore implications, sending the Static Dress official discord server into full detective mode, anxiously awaiting whatever they unveil on the 29th. It is worth noting that the 29th is a Friday, whereas Static Dress typically release singles on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

One thing is for sure, in the words of the bLack-Orchid channel, "patience will be rewarded".
