We can sit here and debate whether or not Saturday Night Live is funny after half a century on the trot, but they have plenty of material thanks to the current administration. In last Saturday's (April 11th) episode, the cold open saw James Austin Johnson as Donald Trump making various cold calls, including Tiger Woods (Kenan Thompson) and his wife Melania (Chloe Fineman), before dialing up Pete Hegseth, who still can't be assed about the choppers that flew onto Kid Rock's yard.
As the Secretary of Defense is a known alcoholic and self-professed alpha male, his references are incredible Nineties when portrayed by Colin Jost, even throwing out a "WAZZUP!" for old time's sake. When asking about a reason why the US is getting into a conflict with Iran, Hegseth suggests that Trump say we "did it all for the nookie," a nod to the 1999 Limp Bizkit track.

I mean, quality of the show this late in the game notwithstanding, it's a cringeworthy moment, but it's bound to pop a fair share of us in the nu world. Granted, the only time anyone in the LB has been on the show was a sketch involving Fred Durst fake-hosting in 2024, and nu metal hasn't had a great track record on the New York institution (looking at you, Rage Against the Machine and System of a Down).
Let us dream, damn it.
