Following fan outcry, Los Angeles alt/groove metal band Bad Wolves have been dropped from Skillet's recently announced Comatose: 20 Years, Still Screaming Tour. While no official statement explaining the decision has been released by either band, the main point of contention was Bad Wolves' new lead singer Sara "Killboy" Skinner. Specifically, fans took umbrage with Skinner running an OnlyFans account and/or possibly being trans. Skinner, flouting a request from Skillet's team, took to social media to address the accusations. tl;dr: she does have an OnlyFans; she is not trans. (Even if the latter were true, it still shouldn't matter.)
Killboy's statement in full:
I have gathered you all here today to inform you that Bad Wolves will no longer be joining Skillet on their upcoming tour. Now, Skillet's camp did not want me to say anything, but apparently a statement has to be made. And I'm not someone who's ever hidden who the fuck I am. So, let's not leave you to speculate, okay? Here's the truth: Skillet announced us on their tour and their fans had a field day doing very extensive research that their booking agents and management did not do. Upon their findings, I am a 'trans OnlyFans bitch.' Now, unfortunately, only one of those things is true. Have fun finding out and we will see you on the next tour.
As the Instagram caption "now who coulda seen that comin" makes clear, Skinner was prepared for this exact turn of events. And she's clearly being tongue-in-cheek when she says fans of the platinum-selling, Grammy-nominated band did "very extensive research"—the link to all her socials, including her OnlyFans page, is right there in her Instagram bio. And as for the failed transvestigation, a charitable read suggests Skillet fans saw Skinner and assumed Tommy Vext or Daniel "DL" Laskiewicz, the band's previous lead singers, had transitioned. Or maybe some of Skillet's more conservative-leaning fanbase is just weird about trans people. Many such cases, unfortunately.
Other Christian bands might have taken this opportunity to adhere to Jesus's teachings about forgiveness and embracing sinners, but not Skillet. Then again, forgiveness, understanding, and sex positivity are probably too much to ask from a band whose frontman published a book called Wimpy, Weak, and Woke. In recent years, lead singer John Cooper has grown increasingly outspoken about his right-wing views, buddying up with far-right commentator (and fellow podcaster) Michael Knowles, beefing with Rage Against The Machine over COVID vaccines, and likening Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion's Grammy performance to Adolf Hitler.
