Dinged Me With Verizon: Oli Sykes Sustains Mild Concussion From A Cellphone To The Head

The Bring Me The Horizon frontman was struck by a cellphone during the band's May 11 show in St. Louis.

"Doomed"? More like "domed."

Last night, during the band's May 11th concert in St. Louis, Bring Me The Horizon lead singer Oli Sykes was beamed in the head by a cellphone launched from crowd. The incident occurred at the tail-end the Grammy-nominated band's performance of "Happy Song" at the Enterprise Center.

"Who the fuck just threw a phone at my fucking face?" responded Sykes, 39, in the immediate aftermath. While Sykes received no major injuries, video footage shows the singer wiping blood from his front left temple and visibly struggling throughout the set. Feeling less that 100%, Sykes cut "YOUtopia" from the setlist and opted not to make his way into the crowd to sing "Drown" toward the end of the show.

Today, May 12th, Sykes took to social media to updates fans on his condition—he sustained a mild concussion—and apologizing for impaired performance:

Alright everyone – just wanted to let you know I'm all good. The phone to the head definitely smarted and I ended up with a mild concussion, but the swelling's gone down a decent amount.

Last night I was struggling a bit on stage afterwards because singing was putting a lot of pressure on the wound and making things feel a bit disorienting while performing, so I'm sorry on my part what may have seemed like a half hearted performance.

Appreciate everyone checking in and worrying about me though🖤 Everything should be fine for tonight's gig.

Oli xx
