Chat Rats of the world unite! Or, at least Chat Rats of Japan and Europe/the UK. Acclaimed Oklahoma City no wave/sludge band Chat Pile just announced two shows in Japan scheduled for June. Both shows will feature support from Japanese death/doom metal outfit Coffins.
Chat Pile took to social media to put out the following statement:
Did we ever think we’d be playing our songs about Grimace and Arby’s in Japan one day? Seemed pretty unlikely back when we were writing them, but here we are. It’s truly an honor!
And let me give a quick, preemptive “patience” to all of ya’ll who are about to jump into the comments asking us to play another country that is also several thousand miles away from Oklahoma City (although TBH you commenting does help our reach on this god forsaken app, so have at it!).
We’ll have more news for you guys in the coming weeks.
Tickets go live Saturday, March 14th at 10am JPT. Click here for more info. This news comes just days after the band announced they will be playing Pukkelpop in Belgium. Their upcoming European/UK tour with Ragana even added a second Dublin show due to popular demand. Sure, the world may be going to hell, but there's never been a better time to be a Chat Rat. Check out dates and the song "The Matador," from In the Earth Again, below.
The band's latest 7", Masks, is out now on vinyl and streaming platforms via Sub Pop Records. Their album with Hayden Pedigo, In the Earth Again, is out now via The Flenser. Check out The Nu Metal Agenda's review here.
